Goga Sabekia Moscow AW 2013

If a tourist goes to Moscow for the first time, chances are he will enjoy a Kremlin and Armoury guided tour, including optional activities like visiting the Tretiakov Art Gallery, a Moskva River boat cruise, Lenin's Mausoleum, Red Square and St Basil's Cathedral.

But if an Italian fashion victim happens to be in Moscow for the first time during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, chances are she will not find anything more satisfying to conclude her sightseeing but Goga Sabekia fashion show.

Presenting a collection named ‘Reload’, Goga is indeed placing a new load on this beautiful city: inspired by the different periods and epochs that built Russian history - from imperial Russia to constructivism, from Catherine the Great to Fabergé, the collection can’t help paying homage to the passion of Coco Chanel for Russia, including the Russian ballet, jewelry in the Byzantine style and her love affair with the Great duke Dmitry Pavlovich.

A poem dedicated to the contemporary Russian era. It’s patriotism played on the notes of a modern Muscovite folklore: dark lips, vivid contrasts in colors and materials, and ironical accessories made up of images dear to Russian people, as the exaggerated  Golden Ring Cathedral crown. And of course, the M.O.S.C.O.W finale. But let me tell you something Goga, that wasn’t necessary, you had already shouted the word all along the catwalk.
