In just four weeks the Danish textile designer, Margrethe Odgaard, the iconic lamb company Le Klint and the textile company Georg Jensen Damask created an unusual pop-up exhibition when invited by the Designmuseum Denmark in Copenhagen.
The remarkable and cohesive result demonstrates how classic designs acquire new expressions when new angles and themes are introduced. Margrethe Odgaard was inspired by the royal Danish court and their expertise in setting tables at royal and historic standards and by the architect Kaare Klint’s studies on body proportions and furniture making. The placement on the table and their individual proportions were translated and printed on the tables and the serviettes. The lines were reflected also in the bending of the cords holding the .. lamps designed 70 years ago by Le Klint and developing the cords from passive to active elements.
A twist to the many straight lines and the historic basis of the designs was the edible menu cards with poetry inspired by meals. After all – when setting the table the final aesthetics is aimed also at eating. A holistic sensory experience you may say.
