Two young designers made distinct impressions during the Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Mark Kenly Domino Tan. The brand and designer name indicate international perspectives, and the styles presented by the young designer in Copenhagen were truly cosmopolitan. Right from the very first styles, the appeal was to a confident woman with a strong sense of aesthetics. The colour palette was predominantly light, and with the choice of materials rendering attention on form and silhouette, the collection was one of a kind. The variety between shiny surfaces and interesting texture supported the impression of Nordic luxury attractive to international markets maybe unaware of the Nordic reference but simply looking for a new interpretation of simplicity, elegance and femininity. Mark Kenly Domino Tan offers a truly modern take on high-end fashion for a segment appreciating quality in design, materials, and emotional appeal.
Although still a member of the younger team, Freya Dalsjø presented a collection of secure designs characterised by artistic inspiration and warm colours. Dalsjø manages to balance shapes, colours, and details into an expression which is truly her own but still with plenty of room for the women wearing her creations. It seems that the more complicated her designs become the more they appeal to lovers of simplicity. This seemingly paradox can be explained by her ability to create lines and forms attracting just the right level of attention to the designs but without becoming overwhelming or invading. The Dalsjø designs are an invitation into a landscape of craftsmanship, individuality, and appeal, which many different women will surely like to inhabit.
