Danish couture in Copenhagen

Danish-couture-1 - Cover

On a sunny spring day a group of Copenhagen couturiers and designers presented their unique designs in the picturesque Hercules Pavilion from the early 17th century in the King’s Garden. The charming pavilion and the opera opening were perfect scene-setters to the slow and intimate catwalk allowing the spectators time and opportunity to study the beauty and perfection of the Danish couture and jewelry so rarely on display.

The show presented elegant dresses, suits, and coats by Susse Thorseng Lærche, who also showed romantic, embroidered clutches made in collaboration with Sjølander Embroidery. Milliner Susanne Juul’s hats enhanced the femininity and seduction of the experience, while underlining the indisputable charm of being a woman of style.

Goldsmith Josephine Bergsøe’s fascinating and weighty gold creations with pearls and gems added a more contemporary contribution with their reference to the wilder side of nature, and the beauty of enhancing the unpolished character of the materials.

The pleasure of witnessing the luxurious display of craftsmanship and artistic talent, and sensing just how far the unique can take you in a world of mass-production, gives food for thought regarding priority in future consumption. This, was the real thing.
