When watching a number of fashions shows within only a couple of days, it become very clear how vast the possibilities for interpretation of the times and trends really are. At best the possibilities seem endless.
The route from fashion with a broader and consequently more commercial reach to fashion from graduates is an interesting one indeed.
From the first category the fashion brand Veronica B. Vallenes showed a collection with a minimum of details and prints and a clear preference of colour blocking from an optimistic palette. The collection was defined by softness, and its simplicity will undoubtedly spark interest in a broad market.
The designer duo Baum & Pherdgarten presented their best collection in years. They showed a wide range of styles with a continuous mix of print, texture, form, and colours with strong fashion appeal. Attractive to lovers of classic, romantic, bold and simple expressions alike, the collection was still cohesive and had the usual feminine touch characterizing the experienced brand.
The Designers’ Nest competition presented the best of the Nordic design graduates in an illustrative set-up and choreography. The jury’s choices for the three first prizes were characterized by references to history and nature. With Andreas Eklöf from The Swedish School of Textiles as a winner, it seems evident that menswear is heading towards an expressive and clearly masculine future. The Designers’ Nest show always has an inherent optimistic energy and bears testimony to the valuable efforts of the Nordic design schools.
