From design to political transparency

From design to political transparency - Cover

If you live in Italy and you are Italian, you will not be surprised to encounter a total lack of transparency when it comes to politics, budget managing and election. Oddly enough, just a few steps away from the Alps, the Germans have found their way to give a clear, colored and graphically appealing vision of the Parliament votes and of the federal budget, thanks to two Red Dot Communication award winning ideas.

The website module developed by Babiel allows citizens to become informed about the results of any roll-cast vote in the German Parliament, and to see how many parliamentary representatives from which party voted yes or no on the issue discussed, combining auxiliary information to a user-friendly platform.

The Itten circle must have been the inspiration for the solution provided by Pixelpark for the visualization of the German Federal Budget: involving over 300 billion euros, the budget covers more than 2700 pages that are now easily and clearly accessible for everyone through smart phones and tablets. This makes the economy a lot more understandable to citizens, and marks once again a bold German step forward, to a high concept of civilization and far away from Italy.
