Jewellery in fashion - Cover

The roof garden of the Royal Danish Academy of Music on a warm summer morning offered the perfect scenery for a stylish jewellery show. Presenting a selection counting some of the best Danish jewellery designers, the variety of Danish jewellery was clearly illustrated.

Charlotte Lynggaard from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen showed her mastering of details and simplicity in her enchanting design. How the look of a snake, which will usually invoke fear and panic, can suddenly ignite a profound wish to own just that as a dear treasure – says a lot. The Lynggaard usage of gems and stones in countless and individual combinations shows a luxury brand with an ambition to include more than only the very affluent customers in their group of followers.

A very different universe was presented by Nina York with her marked and forceful design. The Nina York brand appeals to segments with a preference for standing out as opposed to blending in. Even though many of the designs are large in size and have industrial references, they still posses a tactile appeal and quality that will demand very little of the other elements of the outfit. In fact, wearing a piece of jewellery designed by Nina York is sufficient for signalling a cultural identity with a lot of design attitude.
