Colombiatex de las Americas 2011
Continuing with Inexmoda’s task to research global trends, Colombiatex of the Americas 2011 looks to the future, evokes nature and turns it into technology.
Looking to the future taking the present into account, is the task of a developing industry and it is time that the Latin American textile sector takes on the current challenges keeping aware of the environment and the implications it may have on man in a world in a process of transformation.
By looking to the future, Inexmoda finds in Biotechnology a tool for processes innovation in the textile industry, because by combining nanotechnology with the functionality of biotechnology we find a perfect way of turning nature into innovation.
Biotechnology is technological application that uses biological systems and living organisms or their derivatives for the creation or modification of products or processes for specific uses. Its main objective is the creation of easily degradable products that consume less energy and general less waste.
Given the growing demand for an integral fashion concept, the textile sector must include in its productive processes techniques derived from biotechnology by using enzymes. Therefore, a lesser environmental impact, a reduction in costs, an improvement in quality and in functionality of fabrics will be achieved. This new trend allows the cooperation and the union of synergies between several sectors in order to successfully face the habits of the current consumer; a more sophisticated and informed consumer, whose needs evolve from the simple fact of dressing to a selection of much more ethical ideas and life styles.
Therefore, Inexmoda wants the textile industry to start becoming cutting edge by exploring enzyme processes instead of traditional chemical processes and offering through biological textiles new functional characteristics, because consumers demand these new trends, an evermore demanding consumer who requires an industry that is constantly innovating and evolving.
