Art connections

Pamela Martello, jewellery designer

The project created by Pamela Martello, who graduated in Jewellery Design in 2011, is dedicated to nature. Under the supervision of Paola Volpi, the coordinator of the three-year course, the designer has focused on plastic and natural elements. While developing her research project, she has been able to take a broader view of her work, exploring different materials and always trying to establish connections between them.

Pamela’s keywords are recycling, experimentation, innovation and aesthetics. In her Intreccio project she uses very humble materials that are easy to find, and makes them valuable through her aesthetic research and experimentation with plastic elements. Among the various materials, Pamela uses plastic yoghurt pots, which she melts and moulds into different shapes. The material used is high-density polyethylene, which is cheap and easy to mould. This way, the designer gives new life to humble materials that would otherwise be discarded, turning her experimentation into an ethical and creative achievement. Her creativity takes inspiration from nature, in particular from the roots of the trees, from the intertwining and vital exchanges between the trees and the ground. The result is a collection of necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings made of burnished silver/copper and recycled polyethylene. A metal collection with a natural heart.
