Cascina Cuccagna will host the fourth Public Design Festival during Fuorisalone 2012.Inside the restored 17^th century farmhouse, a team of students from the Master courses in Interior Design and Product Design will exhibit the projects developed in collaboration with esterni and Cascina Cuccagna syndicate.

The young designers were given the task of coming up with solutions for the outdoor spaces of the historic farmhouse, particularly the garden area, which would bring in local residents and help a bond to grow between them and the space itself. In addition, the project aimed at educating residents to think “green”, respect nature and use recycled materials. Planning began with an initial intensive workshop where students, led by esterni and Cascina Cuccagna staff, got to grips with the public space, saw at first hand just what it means to plan out this kind of setting and monitored and judged the effectiveness of their own work.

The students’ work – a mobile garden, a composting system, an arbour, a container for collecting rain water and chairs suitable for accompanying both the mobile garden and tables – will be set up and ready for the public to enjoy on April 17^th  in Cascina Cuccagna.

The designers will be on hand to present and talk about their work on April 20^th.
