The projects of the second edition of “Un designer per le imprese”, (A designer for the industries), promoted by Material ConneXion, the Municipality of Milan and the National Chamber of Work, were on exhibition from 10th November to 8th January at “La Triennale” in Milan. The initiative involved 15 companies, 4 schools, and 91 students who realized 26 prototypes.

For this competition, IED Design Milano School involved 10 designers selected among students and former students of the Product Design and Interior Design courses. 5 teams composed by 2 designers were organized and each team worked on 3 projects.

During the exhibition at “La Triennale” in Milan, the public was asked to vote for the winner project.

Luke Hornung and Matteo Vilardo won the Public Prize – besides the one previously obtained by the jury – with the project “Vaso della Cuccagna” (The vase of plenty) developed for Loykem.

Luke and Matteo graduated in product design at IED Design Milan during the A.Y. 2009-2010.

“Vaso della Cuccagna” is nowadays the icon of the rural agriculture. It was – and is – used for the cultivation of plants and vegetable for domestic use.
Vaso della Cuccagna” is characterized by a self-irrigation system based on a very old cultivation technique, the watering with a wick. It is made by two elements: the first one is aimed at “containing” and it is a string spread with epoxy resin that forms the classic silhouette of the vase, and the second one is a recipient in refined polyurethane resin.
