Video Art Exhibition in Rome

From February 1 to March 11, 2012, Casa dei Teatri and IED Roma present Mobile Singularities Living in a Nomadic Space, an exhibition dedicated to the Italian video art from the 1970s up today organised by the Gruntumolani Curatorial Collective, which was created during the Master Course in Event and Museum Curator, combining different experiences and educational backgrounds into a high-profile team.
The event is the result of a research project aimed at exploring the various factors that shape our identity: geographical features, language, culture and traditions. The individual is the subject of an ever-changing process of transformation, which requires a constant negotiation arising from an exchange with the other. The videos selected span from the 1970s to the present, focusing on different artistic languages, from visual arts to performances, from theatre to architecture, also giving visibility to little known but extremely valuable works. Besides, the exhibition will feature a number of emerging artists selected through a competition specifically organised for the event. Artists selected for the exhibition include: Alessandra Cassinelli, Theo Eshetu, Giulio Gianini and Emanuele Luzzati, Alberto Grifi, Compagnia Teatrale Krypton, Ugo La Pietra, Luca Lucini, Antonello Matarazzo, Milkyeyes, Christian Niccoli, Adrian Paci, Davide Pepe, Studio Azzurro, Gianluigi Toccafondo, Gianni Toti, Enzo Umbaca, Francesco Vezzoli, Luigi Viola, Alberto Zanazzo.
The exhibition is promoted by the Department for Cultural Policies of Rome, the Library Network of the Rome City Council, and Theatre of Rome, in partnership with Zètema Progetto Cultura.
