Lif by Mete Erdem

Lif-by-Mete-Erdem-2 - Cover

The Turkish designer Mete Erdem has released a table that is worth to be defined a smart minimalist meeting point between Western modernity and Eastern traditionalism.

Looking at this little masterpiece, named Lif, it is not easy to state which mood prevails: on one hand, the contraposition between sharp volumes of the base and the morbidity of the white surface of the table is the perfect celebration of futuristic style mix and match. On the other, the extreme simplicity of the whole structure, exalted by the smart usage of a warm wooden base,  could make it the perfect minimal complement of an ethnic luxurious house.

Despite the brilliant surface catches the attention, no doubt about it: the base is smart. Made up of two empty decomposed triangles, Lif is a great example of how simmetry can still be so powerful.

Wood is even recalled in the middle of the white surface; actually, looking at the table from the top, one could almost mistake it with a surf table.

Lif is another creation celebrating the smart packaging of sharp volumes, merging all together almost like a Tetris: it is not a case if a coat hanger by Erdem bears this same name.
