Leonardo da Vinci as one of the greatest painters of all time, as well as the innovators, has inspired continuously many creatives around the world with his work.
“Saitens” is a minimal two-seat steel chair designed by young German designer Clara Schweers. It has been inspired by a study of Leonardo da Vinci, found in a bound collection of pages of notes called “Codex Arundel“. It shows the reflection of sunlight shining onto a parabolic mirror, which in the result created a structure of straight lines, an organic surface.
“A reflection is an embodiment for the number two and the reason why I decided to create a seating opportunity for two people” explains Scheewers.
To provide a fast and easy production, the chair has been made of a steel tube combined with a 2-millimeter fishing line, while a CAD model of the product helped to optimize the framework of tube as a fundament for the best wire coverings generated through-out the 163 drill holes.
If you are a person who sees things before they are shown and love to feel the interaction between you and another mind in a different way, this chair will be a great addition to your life as an interior object that will impress any of your guests. A friend or even a stranger. Enjoy!
