Autonomo 2030 Concept

Autonomo is a fully autonomous vehicle system for Los Angeles 2030 designed to overcome some of the major problems facing many of the world’s major cities. It’s main sources of inspiration are drawn from biomimicry, sustainability, artificial intelligence and information technology.

The concept vehicle uses drive-by-wire control system to replace traditional mechanical components to harness the exponential development of technology. Autonomo’s onboard computers will perform the various processes involved in driving, including monitoring and controlling the vehicle, perceiving the world and its objects, communicating and anticipating events in its immediate environment.

Autonomo uses overlapping layers of sensors to build an artificial picture of the world in real time. By combining advanced analytics with three dimensional data from a range of sensors, Autonomo will build an artificial understanding of the world in much greater accuracy, detail and speed than what is possible if vehicles were driven by the most experienced professional drivers.

Every Autonomo vehicles will be constantly synchronise the data it collects, building an understanding of the city’s traffic conditions to work in harmony with each of their individual tasks. A centralized database will be updated in real time and will predict changes in transportation needs based on the conditions that affect traffic flow. Using historical data together with real-time data, the system will constantly balance anticipated mobility demand with mobility supply across the entire road network.

When any two or more Autonomo vehicles cross paths, they will synchronize their movements in platoon mode and follow each other at 20 centimeter distances. This will enable the Autonomo vehicles to reduce most of their energy consumption.

Autonomo is designed to hold upto two adults or one adult plus extra luggage area. The main luggage compartment is in the back of the vehicle, as are most of the components.

Autonomo will act as a single organism across the entire city’s road network with the sole task of safe, fast, energy efficient transportation.
