Series 7 Chair Parasite Design

Kolding School of Design’s Series 7 Chair Parasite Design exhibited at Republic of Fritz Hansen, Copenhagen

Arne Jacobsen is a design icon. Kolding School of Design represents a strong setting for innovative design. A group of first-year design students have created parasite design on and with Arne Jacobsen’s world famous Series Seven Chair™ and the sky has been the limit.

Furniture manufacturer Republic of Fritz Hansen has most generously donated chairs for the project.

The focal points of the students’ parasite designs are aesthetics, form, message, location, social context, function, and every day-life, all of which have to come together in their design solutions. The fortuitous and unexpected meeting between the spectator, the chair, and that which the student contributes is essential. Elements are added and altered that challenge our perception of the chair and the way we experience it. The chair must be created for sitting – other than that, anything goes.

The result will be exhibited in Copenhagen at the Republic of Fritz Hansen Showroom, Klubiensvej 24, Pakhus 48, 2100 København Ø from 6 October to 26 October 2011 on weekdays between 09.00-16.00.

Opening on 6 October between 16.00 -19.00.
