INFORMATION DESIGN & PUBLIC SPACE: Interaction through information.Especially in our colourful world of media, information defines itself through distinctive design. Whether in the street, at a cultural event or on a display: design can be fascinating and informative at the same time. One of the major constituents in a context that focuses on people is, above all, a usability that is fun to use and thus able to provide an excellent user experience.

DAURO OLIVEIRA SIGNAGE

Signage System
Client: Dauro Oliveira Orthodontics Clin, Brazil
Design: Greco, Gustavo / Soares, Tidé / Greco Design, Brazil

The concept of the signage project for the Dauro Oliveira orthodontics clinic stemmed from the pieces used in the orthodontic equipment, more specifically the brackets and the rubber bands. A family of pictograms was then created, along with numbers based, aiming to stimulate the patients to positively interact with the treatment environment, and moving the aesthetic perception away from the idea of pain and inhibition.

Amnesty International Light sculpture

Installation
Client: AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL, Germany
Design: Park, Kum-jun / 601bisang, South Korea

Amnesty International’s figurative mark is a candle – the international symbol for hope. An LED was fixed to the bottom of the candle, which lit up a template fixed to the wall from below to project a seemingly lifelike human rights violation scene as a shadow onto the wall. Thanks to a change in the lighting conditions, neutral visitors were turned into shocked eyewitnesses within seconds. The installation’s message: human rights violations take place unobserved, “in the dark” – until Amnesty International makes them visible and brings them to the world’s attention.

A50 motorway information graphic

touristic information graphic
Client: Brabants Kenniscentrum voor Kuns, Netherlands
Design: Kim Angie / Cicuttin

As part of an art project situated on the motorway at Sonse Heide A50 motorway parking this touristic information graphic brings attention to regional touristic sites. The information is engraved on hardwood planks of picnic benches and tables, turning them into banners advertising the region. Each banner shows a line-chart with iconography set around six touristic themes connecting places of interest from north to south and vice versa parallel to the A50 motorway. Hand in hand with the specially designed accompanying single-line-typeface, a geographical wall-map with motorway information serves as a legenda to the icons.
