With the theme of ‘Light and Matter,’ the ‘Creative Light Beijing’ International Arts Festival 2011  will literally light up on evening of September 22 in Beijing, historic Ditan Park (Temple of Earth Park) with a grand staging of lights ahead of the Beijing International Design Week.

The festival will last from September 22nd to October 3.  30-odd outstanding designers from different countries will present their installations of light art combining lighting, architecture and interior design.

For a long time light has been disregarded, so we may need to review it in its art form.The installation pieces at the festival represent the understanding and feeling of the designers. The art pieces, of which LED is the major component, combine kinetic energy, solar energy, mutual induction and projections, and through the connection of light and objects, they invite to reflect upon the interaction between communities, environment, culture, human thought and ideology. Through its presentation of glamorous lighting effects, this festival is intended to encourage the visitors to think about these issues.
