Os Burgueses
”Wherever I am, if I’m with you, it’s home”. Creative directors, Mia Lourenço and Pedro Eleutério, found this quote from Antoine Saint-Exupery’s “The Little Prince” inspiring and it led them to their innovative fall collection. The looks were presented under the theme ”Home’:’ proposing a journey in the discovery of what binds us to each other. This idea of home motivates us to feel comfortable in the clothes we wear or, as it is directly implied, to make ourselves at home.
Watching these urban outfits, we cannot miss the striking zippers starting in the middle of garments and bending towards the shoulder as you’re pulling them up. Selected pieces have a lot of short zippers that make the observed combination somewhat rebellious. Some of the outfits stand out as rather youthful –a short leather skirt paired with short leather jacket, and a black and grey dress whose bodice resembles a shirt. The cuts on the coats done a very feminine essence to the silhouettes, whether the lower part looks like a skirt or the whole piece resembles a too-long black shirt. When it comes to menswear, the ensembles are elegant and gentlemanly. One interesting detail to note is a black and white shirt that you are free to call the “yin yang shirt”. This example of diversity and balance is pronouncedly bold and clever move.
The second part of the fashion show presents both a play of colors and an interesting combination of materials. The bright red hue is even more eye-catching because it is set against the contrasting grey tones is surrounds it. And so we come to grey pieces which undoubtedly were the riskiest of looks. And the risk absolutely paid off. Grey shirts made of ’’old-school’’ tweed are classy and unique, and they are designed to stir thoughts that echo sentences like “They don’t make them like this anymore’’. The grey women’s trousers also made of tweed provide the illusion of sparkle effects and can be a part of someone’s evening look.
