“We aimed to build a bicycle that would represent its owner’s significance”, stated Festka.“We used the same style of linking with carbon, because we like the way it looks, the secret of carbon structures lies in a unique zero degree axial fiber laying process, developed through an on going research. The difference a few degrees make is pretty significant, 15% in stiffness and up to 40% in strength, it is highly resistant to mechanical damage”.
Presented at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show in Charlotte, the Urban Zero carbon fibre bike is the latest chef-d’œuvre of Festka a Czech Republic based company. The Urban Zero draws on Festka’s well-proven road frame but removes all clutter, leaving a sophisticated but simple Gates Carbon Belt Drive System, and no other sound but silence.
The gear ratio of 60-22 is well balanced to suit both quiet city rides as well as those off-track. With a more classic road geometry the Urban Zero is adaptable to many handlebar configurations. 80mm Rocket Wheels complete the artwork and unify the appearance.
Last but not least, the Urban Zero features amazing illustrations by the duo Tomski & Polanski. Lukáš Tomek and Ilona Polanská, the artists hidden behind T&P, came up with a theme that draws on the natural element of wind in its literal and figurative reach. Recalling speed, freshness, and some of the most powerful elements of the universe, the colour scheme manages to wake up the noble spirit in you and bring out a kind of super hero attitude.
Plus, it matches the Czech national colours, and as Festka said: Capitan Czech Republic conquers America!
