Self-entitled a high-end photo retoucher, Cristian Girottois an Italian graphic designer currentlyliving in Paris that has a wide ranged portfolio: from commercial pictures that portrait perfect looking skin women to personal projects that explore different styles of image manipulation. His most famous work till date is called L' Enfant Extérieur (The Outer Child) in which he explores the famous theory that says we all have an inner child by using Photoshop as a tool to, in a very expressive and funny way, transform adults into children.
In a recent project for Zink Magazine entitled In the edge, the creations of the stylist Veronica Camacho, photographed by David Benoliel, got with the retouch a very particular characteristic: super shiny models. As if the women are dressed in a second skin layer of transparent plastic, this virtually created coat seems to be binding together the whole outfit and even securing in place some of the accessories, like the back spine spikes. With a very accurate and beautiful play of shadows, shines and transparencies the post treatment done to the pictures immediately transforms the pictures in something edgy and innovative.
With the photo’s post production being already part of the original project scope and a core aspect of it, In the edge is representative of a new way of facing fashion editorials that might lead still to other spectacular results.
