Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association (SIDA) is a non- profit organization founded in 2008, primarily supported by Shenzhen municipal government as a first-class industry association.
Its members include institutions that provide services for industrial design chains and the relevant organizations such as design firms, manufacturers, handicrafts and material suppliers, brand planning and marketing institutions, design schools, research institutions and so on. SIDA has become the largest professional design organization in China and the first industry organization to join in the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID).
Till March 2014, SIDA has taken in 649 member units from Shenzhen and across the country, and built the municipal Industrial Design Public Service Platform, with two centers (Shenzhen Hong Kong Design Center, Sino-Swedish Design Center), three professional committees (User Experience Design Committee, Brand Planning Committee and Home Design Committee) and an Industrial Design Research Institute. And there are 30 fulltime staff members in the secretariat.
SIDA works for propelling Shenzhen industrial designs forward to cooperate with industry and integrate with the world”, facilitating industry innovation exchanges and cooperation, enhancing the capability of independent innovation of the traditional manufacturing industries, and speeding up the high-end international development of emerging industries.
