The story began when its creator needed a bicycle

Vanhulsteijn Bikes - Cover

Vanhulsteijn Bikes began when creator Herman van Hulsteijn needed a bicycle.

But the bicycle the autodidactic furniture designer desired was not a typical city bike: rather, van Hulsteijn wanted a modern, innovative and streamlined bike.

The designer reached for a stack of tubes meant for a lamp design and miraculously fashioned a bike that we now as the Vanhulsteijn Bike.

Van Hulsteijn’s bicycle immediately drew public attention, and the designer’s company expanded quickly. The bikes are still handcrafted in a studio Klarendal, a historically working class quarter of Arnhem, where nighttime passersby can peer into the shop’s big windows and watch new bikes being assembled by van Hulsteijn’s small team.

Vanhulsteijn frames are handcrafted out of stainless steel and TIG welded. All color frames are professionally powder coated, and the bike’s threaded one inch fork is made of aluminum.
