The street art of French artist Astro adds colours to our trivial and boring world. Using optical illusions he turns flat architectural facades into portals that lead us to another dimension.
Astro created his first graffiti art in 2000 in Paris and from that moment has developed his own world of street art. He uses shadows, lights and the perspective of depth to create tunnels and voids at the centre of his works.
Astro’s newest work is a part of urban art project ‘Loures Art Publica’. In the heart of the city, on the street-facing facade of a residential building, Astro has created a masterpiece. He mixes curves, calligraphy and geometries to create mysterious optical illusions.
The ‘Loures Art Publica’ project seemingly transfers us from the urban sidewalks to a parallel universe. Various layers of blue pigment create an illusion of a tunnel that runs through the flat facades.
Thus, Astro’s energy and originality make him one of the major street artists. His street art decorates lifeless surroundings, creates a mystical atmosphere and gives us a chance to move away from daily routine.
