Once upon a time there were sophisticated, slender illustrations

Laura Laine - Cover

Once upon a time there were sophisticated, slender illustrations with a doll-like look, they had wind-swept hair – no matter if straight or curly – they looked perfect and alluring at a glance.

All wearing amazing dresses from the latest shows and radiating a young femininity and great charm. This glamorous fairy tale atmosphere is exactly what you will perceive while looking at Laura Laine’s magnificent illustrations.

Her story began right after completing her studies at the University of Art and Design, when she became a full time fashion illustrator based in Helsinki.

Her technique is simple, using just pencils, ink and markers, but surly proves her talent. As the artists states herself: “For me the most important ingredient for being a fashion illustrator is a sense of wonder”.

She has exhibited her illustrations all over the world, from New York and LA, to the United Kingdom. Her collaborations now include Vogue Japan, Vogue Germany and Elle, fashion labels like Zara, Gap and H&M as well as newspapers such as The New York Times, The Guardian and The New Yorker.

Last but not least, Laura Laine’s work played a significant role in the 2013 advertising campaign of the Italian-Finnish designer Daniel Palillo, who himself posed in a hotel room with one of Laine’s illustrations.
