From gracing the 67th cover of the Australian indie magazine sensation Frankie to covering the debut album of the singer-songwriter Troye Sivan, chances are that you have seen the pastel-hued works of the incredibly talented illustrator Hsiao-Ron Cheng.

Born in 1986, the Taipei-based digital artist and illustrator launched her freelance career in 2012 and soon gained international attention, which culminated in her being shortlisted for the Young Illustrator Award the same year. Now, her client base has grown immensely, and it includes everything from well-known fashion brands to design agencies from all across the globe.

The Taiwanese illustrator cites digital tools as her medium of choice, and, with their help, she has even created a digital painting, which now is a permanent part of an 8ft coffee shop mural. Whether she is drawing dainty females surrounded by soft florals or a bunch of kids sporting quirky cupcake heads, Hsiao-Ron Cheng’s signature style is easily recognizable due to the consistent use of airy strokes and a muted colour palette.

In a recent interview to Frankie magazine, she told about her constant need to explore more illustration possibilities, styles and ideas, so it’s clear that this young talent isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
