Get HOOKED

Dec. 14, 2012 - Seeing the rise of numerous jewelry designers in a city where there’s abundance of gold & crystals, Farah Nasri from Dubai, the designer behind HOOKED/HKD caught my interest for her limited edition statement pieces of wearable art rings made from unconventional materials and implemented through the art of 3D printing. Perceiving her rings as mini-sculptures and jewelry design as a means to sculpt the body and accentuate its lines she came up with HKD.

Nowadays, people’s fascination of stacking their jewelry as a reflection of their identity, culture, and life story inspired her to come up with a collection of 6 rings that can be assembled together in over 12 ways with art history as inspiration and avant garde architectural concepts on a more versatile scale.

Made her debut in Dubai last October by coming up with ” Once Upon a Greek Goddess” collection of 6 rings. Each named after a Greek Goddess, with the rings following Plato’s Concept of Symposium of them being able to fit into one another as if once separated by Zeus. “According to Greek Mythology, humans were created with 4 arms, 4 legs, and a head with 2 faces.Fearing their power, Zeus split them into 2 separate parts, condemning them to spend their lives in search of  their other halves” – Plato’s The Symposium.

In a world where fashion trends move at a very high rate and multiple collections are made redundant, HKD is a must in every woman’s jewelry box for it’s once a year collection of organic 3D printed pieces. Get Hooked and tell us your story. Check out http://thecartel.me for Farah’s collection. Below are few suggestions on how you can wear these little masterpieces :
