  • 11/11/2013 - The results 2013

On 11-17 October was held the 4-th edition of Moscow Design Week — one of the most memorable autumn shows, which brought together designers and their projects from Russia, North America, Eastern and Western Europe.

The main subject of Moscow Design Week 2013 was design in all its forms. The event combined together creative concepts of recognized professionals: French Philippe Starck, British Zaha Hadid, Italians Paola Navone, Alessandro Gurero, Alessandro Mendini, Ettore Sottsass, and Dante O. Benini. The younger generation was presented by American Brad Ascalon and Slovenian project Silent Revolutions. Thanks to the participation of world stars of design, MDW caught public attention not only in Russia, but also far beyond its borders. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Karl Erjavec and Slovenian Ambassador to Russia Primoz Szeliga officially visited Design Week in honor of Moscow tours of Silent Revolutions project.

Alexander Fedotov, the president of the Organizing Committee of the exhibit gave a welcome speech at a press conference dedicated to the opening of Moscow Design Week 2013: "This year, as before, more people want to experience something from Moscow Design Week. At MDW there were presented young designers and recognized stars, as well as cultural organizations and creative universities and specialized showrooms. We are pleased at the growing interest in our event and are ready to live up to the expectations of the participants and the spectators".

The speakers of the press-conference were representatives of the main project of Moscow Design Week — Design SuperAntiHeroes. Among them are the key Italian avant-garde of the 1980s Alessandro Guerriero, founder and ideologist of the studio Alchimia, co-owner of the legendary design gallery Dilmos Sergio Riva, and together with them — designers, who grew up on the legacy of Alchimia and Dilmos — Andrea Salvetti and Alessandro Ciffo. Their co-speakers were an artist and designer Massimo Giacon and Gregorio Spini, curator, who brang together these outstanding people in Design SuperAntiHeroes project. This honorary title they received thanks to the skill, uncompromising expression of ideas and sparkling self-irony that overshadowed familiar to great designers star gloss.

"I would like to thank the organizers of Moscow Design Week for giving me an invaluable opportunity to get together such talented people for the participation in the exhibition. I’m very proud of the Design SuperAntiHeroes project", — shared his emotions Gregorio Spini

On the same evening, The Opening Cocktail dedicated to the 4-th Moscow Design Week took place. The guests discussed the rich exhibition program and exchanged views on the first MDW day. Dj Vitaly Kozak and event’s partner, wine company Simple were responsible for the laid-back atmosphere. Opening of the exhibition ended with a private party at the Chips club.
