RFW AW 2014/15
The 20th RIGA FASHION WEEK will take place in the capital of Latvia from April 1 till 5, 2014. In honour of an anniversary of the project the organizers have prepared the interesting event schedule, as well as a new venue for the fashion shows.
RIGA FASHION WEEK is a pret-a-porter fashion festival organized by the Baltic Fashion Federation already for ten years stably two times a year - in spring and autumn, according to all international standards. This spring the event is going to become a real anniversary feast. For sure, as always, the focus will be held on the presentations of the fall/winter 2014/15 collections by the best Latvian and foreign designers.
„It is a big pleasure and honour for us to announce the RIGA FASHION WEEK dates for already the twentieth time. Within these ten years a great work has been done, and much is achieved. The RFW is internationally recognised. There is a whole generation of professional and demanded designers in Latvia, and we are proud about their achievements. Also each season some new talented names are discovered in the fashion industry of Latvia”, the main producer of the RIGA FASHION WEEK, the president of the Baltic Fashion Federation Elena Strahova says.In honour of the anniversary, the RIGA FASHION WEEK will be held in a new, more luxurious place. The RFW fashion shows will take place on the fifth floor of the centre of fashion "Podium" (Brivibas gatve 201, www.podium.lv), that will be fully given to the organizers for RFW needs. New place is bigger, more modern and functional, and therefore is more comfortable for participants and for visitors. An inspiring view of surrounding industrial development of the beginning of the last century opens straight out from the windows of the lounge bar located on the last floor, reminding about the time of technical and industrial progress. An industrial urban landscape stimulates non-standard thinking, aspiration for development and innovations. In turn, the conception and the stylish interior of the centre of luxury fashion "Podium" that offers fancy high class goods – clothing, fashion and interior accessories, is the right place for RFW.
This time, the image of the RFW is a photo, which was made during the photo shoot of a collection of the Latvian fashion brand BeCarousell. The image was made by the team of professionals – the brand designer Dace Krievina-Bahmane, a photographer Natalie Berezina, a make-up & hair artist Kristine Cakare and a model Nastya Choo.
"It is a big honour for me that my work was chosen as this season’s RFW image. I am happy that I participate in the development of fashion in Latvia. Participating in RIGAFASHION WEEK is a great possibility to show the brand not only to Latvian public, but also to international audience, which becomes more and more interested in Latvian fashion", the author of the RFW image Dace Krievina-Bahmane says.

Janis Sne
As time goes by, people start to loose their trust in natural instinct and inner feelings. We are programmed to strive for something that we are not supposed to reach. More and more we are destroying this wall that exists between natural world and artificially created digital world that has become our home.
The ss 2014 collection "Dofa" tells us about the new generation that has been lost between these two worlds, about the time when artificial gives us more pleasure and satisfaction then real life. It is easy to loose yourdelf, when you no longer know what is real and what to believe in. Who are you? Don't be afraid of being different. Be afraid of being unremarkable!

Narciss
The inspiration for the NARCISS 2014 Spring – Summer collection is Gundega Repše’s novel “Īkstīte” (Thumbelina). Drawn from the motifs of Hans Christian Andersen’s well-known Thumbelina fairy tale, Gundega Repše has created an unusual and striking story. In this story, the romantic flower child has gained some childlike characteristics. She wants to melt into an imaginary world where nothing is impossible, while, at the same time, escaping from the seriousness of adult existence. This can be followed by painful defeats.
The flower girl Īkstīte is at the centre of the story of NARCISS collection. She wants to discover the world, but, at the same time, not lose herself in it; to live out a story with unlimited imagination. The collection balances light childlike qualities with a feminine maturity in an attempt to unite the importance of these two elements within a harmonious woman.
