Emporia by Wingårdh Arkitektkontor

Emporia by Wingårdh Arkitektkontor - Cover

Roman Pantheon, “temple to all gods” with its marvelous dome and an oculus inspired the architects of  Wingårdh Arkitektkontor studio to create an avant-garde building of glass and metal, too sophisticated for its primary purpose – to be a shopping mall. Emporia project became a face of a new Malmö district and was shortlisted for World Architectural Festival 2013.

Pantheon’s coffers were transformed into the metallic net covering amber glass, reminiscent of the original Roman bronze, while oculus became a funnel, one of the main modern architectural trends.

Emporia became the first building in a new district of Malmö that will combine offices, dwelling houses and parking lots.

Shopping mall Emporia is connected to a parking lot for 2500 cars decorated with the colorful glass panels.
