Socio-cultural center in Mulhouse

In a situation where brief covered the siting and the orientation of the building French architect Paul Le Quernec concentrated all his energy and creativity on a visual and technical reflection of the spirit of the socio-cultural center. The architect believes that its spirit is similar to such of a church where different people come to feel connected.
Paul Le Quernec yearned to detach himself from an image of a boring box-like building and long narrow corridors. Instead he created a complicated geometrical form underlining the dynamics that ought to be an essential part of a cultural center.
Behind the black panels of façade the multiply rooms of all shapes and colors are hidden. Two parts of a building are connected in the middle like two bulbs of an hourglass. Open areas of the building are restricted by the glass walls and perfect for the outside activities in a good weather.
