New campus of Vienna University was a global project with a participation of many famous architecture bureaus from all around the world. Architects of CRAB Studio created a new home for the Departments Of Law And Central Administration. This spectacular two-part building in yellow and orange became one of the most noticeable ones on campus.
Pronouncedly ragged louvres of natural timber cover the façade. Through this unusual stroke the architects underlined connection of the building with its natural surroundings. “Designer stubble” they call it.
Aside from seminar rooms and offices, the building has a lot to offer. Architects believe that general spaces made to hang out are vital for a University. It’s not only about studying, they say, it’s also about having a good time.
