Omelya Atelier’s Spring Summer ‘14 collection shows the extent of Kostas Omelya's ability. At such a young age, she's able to wisely combine modernity and simplicity. The collection seems to move on two apparently different directions, but that in reality, find a way to intersect, thus creating a balance. On one side, we find strict and geometrical lines and an evident love for structure; on the other one, the lines flow to embrace and enhance the female body, playing with necklines and body length of the dresses.
In addition to this, the color palette choice, dominated by black and white combinations enriched with some prints, is able to enhance even more the sensation of purity emanating from the collection. Someone may criticize a lack of novelty, but the novelty and the merit of the designer is the cohesion of the collection and his strong visual identity, resulting in a wise and unexpected combination of shapes and colors. Also the Neoprene sweater, seen also in other brands, such as Balenciaga and Damir Doma, here finds a new dimension, thanks to the color combination and to the details on the sleeve and the bottom hem.
All the garments are well executed and, a fact not to be underestimated, easy to wear and combined. In a sector where extravaganza becomes almost ordinary, Omelya’s back to simplicity is definitely the novelty.
