One year has passed since I heard for the first time the name of Natasha Zinko. It was at the very end of Mercedes Benz Kiev Fashion Days, when right after the last show a background voice informed that an off schedule fashion show was about to start, the label named Abrakadabra. I clearly remember the jovial atmosphere and the public smiling at the view of the models interpreting kind of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ characters and winking ironically at the cameras.
One year after, Natasha hasn’t lost her jeering spirit, but her ideas, along with lines, curves and volumes of the outfits, are extremely more refined and wearable. The clothes are still playful and sexy: super model Alla Kostromicheva kicks off the runway wearing a flight attendant-inspired hat and a campanula shaped dress. Volumes are pumped, lips are bright in red and the clear palette encompasses some Vichy prints: the inspiration is a sexy ensemble of traits from the 50’s, from the burlesque and from the pin-ups.
The fits of the dresses might be improved, but Natasha keeps on convincing and engaging her audience, her voice and strong personality standing out in the midst of the Ukrainian designers, funny and provoking as the Franco Moschino of the Eastern Europe.
