Carolin Holzhuber

Carolin Holzhuber - Cover

Carolin Holzhuber is a young promise of Footwear Design based between Vienna and London, where she graduated in 2014. Her works can't be just defined as shoes, but as out-and-out sculptures.

In “Conjoined Illusions”, her last collection, she gives wearability to complexed and articulated constructions. The concept behind this collection is about mirroring, reflection and conjoined twins. The spectator gets completely captured by these visual illusions, which are sometimes hard to understand by our brain. They appear as a challenge for the eyes and the minds. A challenge based on prospective.

In fact looking closer at her works, they seem to change shape, creating confusion and grasping our attention in order to discover an hidden beauty behind each of them. Every pair is made by four carbon fibre soles connected in different ways. Carolin, in fact, has been able to mix the traditional craftsmanship with new and innovative materials and techniques, achieving a result which leaves breathless.

Carolin's shoes are architectures to wear, perfect in every single detail. All the steps of the process, from the choice of the material to the accurate realisation, make her works a real piece of art.

Indeed the talent of this young designer's been noticed and praised by international press in different occasions. Her unique creations were exhibited at the MA14 exhibition in Victoria House London and in the Kunst Haus Wien Museum Hundertwasser. Now, Carolin Holzhuber is a finalist at the International Talent Support 2014, the most important event for upcoming Fashion Designers, and we're sure we'll listen about her again.
