Bat

Half way between an unidentified flying object and some Star Trek’s relic, BAT is the design piece you dreamt about for your fancy computer desk.
Combining functionality and eccentricity, BAT is a prototype of a computer mouse created by the Russian Designer Vadim Kibardin. Beside the cool levitating feature, it was designed with a more ergonomic design to help alleviate the tension that we constantly bring on our hands and fingers. BAT is a fluctuating wireless device that can prevent the common issue experienced by many computer users, the Carpal tunnel syndrome. This disease is a condition in which there is pressure on the median nerve – which is located in the wrist that supplies feeling and movement to parts of the hand - that can lead to muscle damage in the hand and fingers.
The device consists of a base, mouse pad and of course the floating mouse itself that operates off the magnet ring. Kibardin claims that the mouse will float approximately 3,5 cm above the magnetic pad, hovering at whatever height that better suits you and minimizing the pressure exerted on the median nerve.
BAT appears to be in all respects a winning product, futuristic on the design side, challenging the limits of the impossible and aiming to leave a vague memory of the numbness and tingling caused by the use of classic mouse. Since BAT is still in the testing and research period, it could take a while for you to see it on your office desk. Meanwhile you can get extremely excited at the idea of a floating mouse killing office boredom and wait for its hit on the retail scene.
