The latest edition of Milan’s Design Week has hosted a new creation by Monica Correia Design Studio: three lamps coming from the Lampyridae collection, openly inspired by warm light of fireflies.
The US-based studio is famous for its vision of achieving a phenomenal compromise between functionality and aestheticism through the smart usage of technologies. By looking at their items, it’s easy to say that this challenge has been the driver par excellence of their entire creative process.
The genesis of the three lamps contributes substantially to render them as doubtlessly unique. As a matter of fact, the design process starts out with 3D models, transformed into 2D slices, cut in plywood through Computer Numerical Control (CNC) laser technology. The final step is the assembling of these shapes, in order to create 3D forms. The darker edges, not removed from the structure, contribute to deepen the sense of warmth that this object diffuses. With lights turned on, the lamps create a relaxing mood of sunset, creating a purely delightful atmosphere.
Three are the shapes available, ranging from the round to the elliptical one. All versions however share very distinct features: the perfect balance between the modernity of shape, achieved mainly by the complex slots and joints among slices, and the warm mood transfused by the natural wooden material used.
Whatever the shape you may pick up, these lamps will make your house the place to be.
