Geo a Day is a project by Jeremiah Shaw and Danny Jones that consists in daily uploading on a website low polygon artworks.
Low Polygon is a technique that was originally used in 3D modelling scenes for videogames, as rendering with low polygonal resolution is way faster. It recently developed into an artistic expression and exploration of geometry.
J.Shaw and D.Jones work singularly as graphic designers mainly in the field of mobile, web and identity design. They started their “Geo a Day” project with the goal of posting every day geometrical 3D explorations and artworks.
Their portfolio ranges from abstract low polygonal images with a strong character in terms of colours and shapes, to reality reinterpretation into polygonal versions of animals, daily goods, landscapes and planets as through the time their capabilities grew among with new challenges and ideas.
The duo masters the combination of dark and dense colours with more pastel or fluo hues together with plain or wooden background. They combine different programs in order to achieve different effects such as 2D vs 3D, or sketchy feelings. The theme of their work changes constantly as their source of inspiration ranges from “Coffee, movies, music, things from our childhood and a little more coffee.” as the desigers themselves mention in the blog.
