Aneta Ivanova is a 21 year old photographer born in Bulgaria. After a period of experimentation and artistic research, she’s found her way into fine art and fashion photography.
The overlapping of images is fundamental in her work, even though it she mixes human bodies with natural elements. Correctly speaking, the physical models she uses are the female bodies. With her camera, Aneta’s able to catch strong evocative moments and immortalizes them, making her works more similar to paintings rather than pictures.
More than fashion or just photography: indeed, her works are real figurative poetry.
The subjects’ eyes, their positions and their lines -from the angles of the shoulders to the inclination of the profiles- remind us of the perfect harmony of the classical Greek art.
However, we can see beyond the physical perfection and find the memories and the message that Aneta wants to transmit us. The pain of nostalgia in her shoots is so real it creates real scars on the skin and, mainly, upon the soul.
In tact, “Scars” is the title of different cycles: Scars, Scars II, Scars III, Scars from Varna and Scars from Germany. In these works, various landscapes open up beyond the subjects’ body. Like if their flesh was canvas and on it the painting takes life.
Instead in other cycles, like in “We are made of flowers” or “Under the water”, she utilizes simple natural elements to fill up human bodies and, in consequence, human life.Feb. 10, 2014
