Il re è nudo! ‘The king has no clothes!’, a little child cried out at the end of a popular Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.
The naked truth is that what happened in Paris during Giorgio Armani Privè show for the next winter is slightly different. The king not only had 52 new beautiful clothes, but also their nudity was dressing models with a nonchalant elegance and perfection that only the expertise of the Italian haute-couturier could have envisaged.
More than a color, in this collection nude is a sensation, a pleasing lightness that plays with transparencies and dreams, a blush pink only interrupted by Swarovski crystals and black feathers. Crinoline is everywhere, sometimes mixed with tulle and organdie, becoming one with the body and with the catwalk: borders are vanishing, volumes are levitating.
The show is an all one with the music played: Symphony nr 5 by Gustav Mahler, the piece that made somebody say ‘The fantastic finale almost forces you to hold your breath’ – very appropriate.
