Giambattista Valli

Giambattista Valli - Cover

Short, high-waisted, mischievous, seductive. Inspired by the rebelliousness of film director Pier Paolo Pasolini and conceptual artist Alighiero Boetti, Giambattista Valli has chosen the eccentric femininity for the spring/summer 2014 season.

It all started with the risque' shorts with front peplums that turned entire silhouettes into stunning statuesque works of art. These several enchanting black and white ensembles were followed by the enticing consonant outfits: the short playsuits and shirts and dresses with deep side slits. Speaking of peplums and slits, the emphasis was put on the front central part of almost every single piece in the collection. Therefore, while the offering was being further unfolded, there were more such surprises.

It seems that the seamstress’ scissors naturally followed the inspiration behind this line-up, hence some dresses were slit from the waist down, exactly in the middle, revealing the lingerie. The undergarments were also exposed with the help of sheer fabrics that were well dosed, while the silky garments were predominant. The swaying vibe was kept under control with wider ribbons and thin gold cords that accentuated the waistline.

As the show was coming to an end, there were less plain pieces and more prints (mainly florals). The color palette gradually became lighter and softer, finally culminating in moderate gold clothing with exquisite detailing.
