Is a lavish knitwear collection so much to ask for these days? Well, you don’t have to ask twice when Luis Buchinho is showcasing at Moda Lisboa - the designer has concurrently managed to surpass himself and spoil us with his proposals.
The most recent pieces from his atelier are beyond doubt casual and versatile, hence the whole line-up is unpretentious and easy-going. The mid-thigh and knee long dresses flatteringly follow the silhouette, and they are the textbook example of the comfortable and relaxed femininity. Instead of heavy outerwear, the turtleneck blouses are placed comfortably under jackets and sweaters, and they contribute to the cozy layering together with the sporty tunics over capris and the out-of-the-blue (brown) sweatpants under something that looks like a tube dress which is wider at the bottom.
But don’t jump to conclusions that this is yet another typical knitwear offering. Certainly not. The thing is, there is almost no asymmetry when it comes to the cuts, but it is fully utilized in terms of the selected colors and patterns. Dark powder pink and blue somehow crept into the abundance of black, white, gray and taupe, and their non-mirrored left/right/up/down combining resulted in the perplexing patchwork. When it wasn’t the former, it was the choice of patterns – vertical and horizontal stripes, as well as the black on white and vice versa scribbles that put the exclusive Buchinho signature on autumn/winter 2014 knits.
