I've always found the primordial organism extremely beautiful, with their visual complexity, intrigued exoskeleton and details; moreover their body was structured in such an amazing way to protect the living core inside.
Alex T Schulz, a German architect, is bringing these intriguing creatures back to life through his design pieces. His products are formally inspired by the evolution of life, and their usage creates a symbiotic relationship with the user.
A perfect example can be found in the "Mesoglea cup", whose name, shape and function is taken from the translucent body of the deep-sea creatures. From its bioluminescence shell, to its inner structure that recalls a mouthpiece, this beautiful glass perfectly resonates the intention and research of the designer.
The inside structure holds below the surface long drink-components such as olives, limes, and letting them mix and dissolve with the liquid and creates an unique experience for the user, as it stirs the drink while drinking.
Another characterizing project is the "Primordial Seed Bowl".
Its shape is created from the phenotype of different seed topologies, both taken from the animal and vegetal world. For this mix, the bowl is meant to be the very first seed of life on a new planet, the origin of new specie.
It opens up in two half like a seed and each half becomes a plate.
