Elysia Lounge Chair by Luca Nichetto for De La Espada

The partnership between the Italian designer Luca Nichetto and Portuguese manufacturer De La Espada was premiered at the Stockholm Design Week in February 2014. This creative collaboration delivers a novel and unique collection called 50/50 to the market. The first item in the collection is the high-quality lounge chair “Elysia”. The design shows a clear influence of northern European design thinking, in that the visibility of all the exquisite materials is an essential aspect of the design. The structural elements, made of American black walnut or European Ash, are external and framing the inviting fabric, ready for your body to sink into the embrace of the chair. The concept for the 50/50 collection is based on using a 50/50 ratio of materials and the spirit of great 1950’s architecture.
Luca Nichetto is a graduate in Industrial Design at the University Institute of Architecture of Venice and he has been working as a professional designer since 1999. He has won several awards, such as the Gran Design Award (2008), the Chicago Atheneum Museum of Architecture’s Good Design Award (2008), the IF Product Design Award (2008), the Elle Decoration International Design Awards’ (EDIDA) Designer of the Year award in the Young Designer Talent category (2009) and the Interior Innovation Award 2013.
