Meander chair and Rama by Anna Goniaeva

Meander chair and Rama by Anna Goniaeva - Cover

Sometimes design may come with a deeper reflection, providing for more than just functionality and pleasant visuals. That is exactly what Anna Goniaeva aimed to achieve with her two latest projects.

The icon of the jewelry box is delicate feminine and the piece plays with the big contrast between the slim asymmetrical white frame and the visually heavy wooden drawers. The project Rama tries to break the paradigm by making a bolder statement.  When the two pieces come together, the axe of the wooden part is rotated creating also an interesting diagonal profile. Being handcrafted, it is of finest quality and a pleasure to use.

Anna Goniaeva also had a provocative look in to the chair’s world. Made out of beech and plexiglass, the Meander Chair gives the impression that two chairs merged into one. The idea is to talk about the interdependent relationship that some people may create with one-another. As the Russian designer explains in her own words: "I took twins for the presentation because they are like symbols of my chair: two similar parts, but at the same time they are different and they cannot exist without each other.

For all it takes, these two projects shad a new light into the many banal objects, making you think either about a theorical concept or about certain objects iconic definitions.

DESIGN THAT MAKES YOU THINK.
