Coffee table by Sandro Lopez

Coffee table by Sandro Lopez - Cover

There is an echo of something in late 1960’s, perhaps from the Jetsons family home (a cartoon that had its primetime in 1963) with visions utility, clean curved lines and minimalism. This is what we believed the future would look like and now we are living in that future.

Lopez coffee table has a dual base of curved wood, beech with oak veneer. In several others of Lopez designs, we can see his deep understanding of the advanced properties of wood and contemporary wood technology. Two identically shaped sheets of wood are juxtaposed, as if you placed two Pringle crisps side by side, but turning one over. We may also associate this form with natural or mathematical patterns such as a sign and a cosine wave. The juxtaposition results in an overall balance. A glass top surface manifests the equilibrium of the shapes, while revealing the complete structure. The coffee table is available in different colours - cream, dark brown and natural wood finish.

Lopez is currently based in London, but have worked with several Italian design studios. His current collection was very positively received at the Milan Design Week 2014. The collection will become available this summer.
