After a number of European Fashion Weeks and designers we got to enjoy in the last weeks, India Fashion week held in New Delhi brings some oriental wind into this years autumn winter trends.
Siddartha Tytler was one of the designers shown at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week peaking out of the crowed due to his elegant, intriguing designs, featuring a perfect mixture between western trends and traditional Indian style.
A graduate from Saint Columbus (class of 1997), Siddartha Tytler completed a 12-month course at the National Institute of Fashion Technology and another three in New York City honing his skills and gaining valuable experience. 2002 he called his very own label into existence showing his first collection at a show in New Delhi the same year. Ever since he is enjoying increasing attention form the world of fashion, also outside of India.
For this years autumn winter collection the Indian designer choses an edgy and rather dark theme where hues were mainly held in black and cobalt blue refined with beige and crème patterns, pearls and sequins.
The topic of the collection was cocktail and evening gowns, however not reduced to one cut, length or garment. Indeed the variety was big and basically offers a dress for every taste. Ranging form short figure hugging cocktail dresses, to 60s like pieces with umbrella skirts to floor long elegant pieces, assortment was definitely not neglected. Catching attention with lace, transparent parts and exotic prints, necklines were mostly held high and often adorned with rows of gothic influenced necklaces.
Following the metallic trend seen several times at India Fashion week this year, Siddartha Tytler showed us plenty of different ways to incorporate and wear it; not as one piece but rather using metallic patchwork, beads, spikes and embellishments, adding an edgy, cheeky feature to his otherwise elegant designs. Oversized rivet necklaces and bracelets were used as eye-catcher and contrast to long evening gowns.
Sharply defined silhouettes are one of his trademarks, putting a strong focus on surface ornamentation and appliquéing, also displayed at this years AW collection. Siddartha Tytler choose not to purse one line of cuts but rather to impress with a choice of outfits following one theme: dark, elegant design with stand out, eye-catching features.
