If darkness is what comes to mind taking the first glimpse of her collections, a deeper basic analysis of every outfit leads to the real essence of fashion conception by this talented London-based designer from Sweden, who developed an extraordinary international background during her career.
Basic themes of Korner’s mood are the deep understanding of charm but also the danger of innocent youth: romanticism is proposed from a dark perspective, with a massive usage of black, an exaggeration of volumes, with some optical tricks that render the voluminous skirts three-dimensional, and enlarged shoulders that dramatically extend the human body.
Her latest collection, Decayed Pathio, is worth mentioning: inspired by the visionary graphics of True Blood series and its disquieting landscapes, drama is the leading tool of this production, where the search for a constant balance between desperate madness and feminine charm is quite easy to notice. “Grungy” is the perfect epithet for Louise Korner’s mood: heavy dark prints meet lighter colours, and there’s a strict refusal for common and “quiet” outfits. Psychedelic patterns meet ancient, romantic fabrics, or obscure long dresses are lit by sprinkles of contrasting sensible looks.
Probably this artist will not please the masses, but fashion intellectuals and the like will simply love her.
