Marinich

Tanya Marinich, the creative soul behind the eponymous label showing during Belarus Fashion Week, for the next season revisits the myth of Narcissus, the beautiful haunter who felt in love with his reflection in the water, not realizing it was merely an image. The modern Narcissuses are creatures of our society and of the social medias, they herd together and have their special distinguishing codes. As the designer herself points out: ‘ Self-admiration disturbs from seeing the real life that remains unnoticed while you are tracking to which extent your social status has grown and the number of “likes” under the picture increased.’
Models are all equal like dolls, wearing the same ‘inverted’ make up (pink for the eyes and blue for the lips) and with the same hair dress. The look sounds artificial in colors and prints: the girls are wearing t-shirts that inspire their behavior and attitude on the catwalk, in the same way that Instagram influences our reality. We are all concentrated on our self. It’s not bad and it’s not polemic. Just a strong statement, shouted throughout the collection.
