Fausto Puglisi

After presenting his memorable SS2014 collection, Fausto Puglisi shows his proposal for women’s clothing for FW 2014/15. At his second appearance at Milan Fashion Week, he already made his statement for the sexy and hyper feminine woman – a collection that virtually screams out its eccentricity while still being extremely refined.

This FW 2014/15 collection can be explained in two key words: colors and geometries. Garments were skillfully cut into smooth lines with an American flair. Puglisi’s love for the US truly explodes in his creations through the representation of the Statue of Liberty, mostly spotted on t-shirts, sweaters and jackets. This tribute comes from the designer’s source of inspiration - Malevich, the Ballet Russes, Sonia Delaunay, NYC in the Sixties and the creative flame burning in the City in those years.

The geometric cuts find their place with the mix of colors juxtaposed on dresses, pants and full looks as a patchwork of fabrics. Don’t even think for a second that we are talking about prints; Puglisi’s looks are made from patterns that are individually placed together by hand. And here comes the sartorial ability that the young designer wants to show us.

The rock-chic woman that Fausto Puglisi proposes is embodied by sexy and feminine mini dresses paired with leather jackets (adorned with golden details) and rockish black boots. The real queen on this catwalk was inarguably the skirt, presented in different geometric shapes and models. The Puglisi’s woman could either wear a vaguely ballerina inspired look, or a more urban one with asymmetrical, flared and straight lines that softly highlight the feminine bodylines. Skirts were combined with maxi sweaters, blouses and crop tops with different combinations of fabrics such as leather, silk, cotton and satin.

An eye on the colors used in his creations reveals the designers love for contrasts. Puglisi creates whole outfits by mixing bright colors and creating strong contrasts between them. And he surly wasn’t hesitating to use the whole pallet!
